  5. NOTE:  Please read this entire file before installing Roids, lest you make
  6.        a mistage you might regret.

  9. I.  Description
  10.  
  11.   Roids is an arcade-style space demolition game for the OS/2 2.x Presentation
  12.   Manager.  Fly your spaceship around blasting Bad Guys and hapless chunks of 
  13.   rock into nothingness.  Very socially redeeming stuff, but hey, it's fun!

  16. II. Installation
  17.  
  18.   A. Current Users:
  19.  
  20.     First of all, DON'T DELETE THE OLD ROIDS.INI FILE!  The new version will 
  21.   work with the old ROIDS.INI file, although the window position will be reset 
  22.   due to changes in how it is saved in the .INI file.  Just copy the contents 
  23.   of ROIDS20.ZIP over the old files, and you're done.

  25.   B. New Users:
  26.  
  27.     OK.  To install Roids, copy the ROIDS.EXE and the ROIDS.HLP files to your
  28.   games subdirectory.  (I.E. C:\OS2\GAMES)  Create an object for Roids using
  29.   the Program template.  Activate the Program tab in the Settings notebook
  30.   for the new object, and under "Path and file name:" enter the path and
  31.   filename of Roids (I.E. C:\OS2\GAMES\ROIDS.EXE).  Under "Working directory"
  32.   enter your games subdirectory (I.E. C:\OS2\GAMES).
  33.   That's all there is to it.

  36. III. Troubleshooting
  37.  
  38.   If Roids starts behaving strangely or stops working, there are a few
  39.   things you can try:
  40.  
  41.   A.  In the Options menu, select "Defaults".  This resets the
  42.       ROIDS.INI file.
  43.  
  44.   B.  If that fails, delete the ROIDS.INI file.  The file will be
  45.       recreated next time you run Roids.
  46.  
  47.       BE CAREFUL!  If your copy of Roids is registered (and I certainly hope
  48.       it is!), make sure you write down your name and User ID EXACTLY as they
  49.       appear in the Product information window.  Once the ROIDS.INI file has
  50.       been deleted, your registration information will be lost.  Re-enter your
  51.       name and User ID in the Register dialog to restore Roids' record of your
  52.       registration.

  54.   C.  And if THAT fails, ROIDS.EXE is probably corrupted.  Re-install it
  55.       from the .ZIP file or get another copy somehow.  The latest version is
  56.       usually available on CompuServe.

  58.   If you're getting errors regarding the Help system, make sure that
  59.   ROIDS.HLP is in the Roids Working directory (see above).
