  1. character classes:
  2. there are four classes that make
  3. up the available professions in
  4. ancients.  a character with a
  5. good balance of magic and 
  6. fighting ability works best.
  7.  
  8. 1. warriors spend their lives
  9. training for battle and can use
  10. any weapon or wear any armor.
  11. warriors cannot cast magical
  12. spells - however, they can use
  13. some magical items.
  14.  
  15. 2. rogues are characters who
  16. rely on cunning and stealth as
  17. opposed to brute force.  a
  18. rogue is slightly harder to hit
  19. in combat and is better able to
  20. defend himself.
  21.  
  22. 3. priests have the power of
  23. the gods and can cast many
  24. spells.  healing the injured
  25. is their livelihood. many
  26. priests are very good warriors -
  27. however, they may not use edged
  28. weapons as they prefer to 
  29. bludgeon their enemies to death.
  30.  
  31. 4. mages are intellects who
  32. spend their life studying 
  33. mysterious magical lore.  they
  34. are very poor warriors as they
  35. rely on magic and intellect to
  36. burn, freeze, fizzle, disint-
  37. egrate, and dismember their
  38. enemies.
