  1. SHINY ROBOT
  2.  
  3. YOU'LL NEED:
  4. One 1-quart milk carton
  5. Tape
  6. One 14-inch-long piece of foil
  7. 1 nut cup or paper cup
  8. One 4 1/2-inch cardboard tube (toilet-paper tube)
  9. Markers or crayons
  10. Scissors
  11. Construction paper

  13. STEP 1
  14. First wash out the milk carton. Then close it and push the top to one side so it's flat. Then tape the top down.

  16. Now your ready to make the body. First, tape the edge of the foil to the milk carton.   Then wrap the foil around the carton and use tape to hold it in place.

  18. STEP 2
  19. To make the neck, tape the nut cup to the top of the body.
  20.  
  21. Now comes the head. First, color the cardboard tube with markers.  Then cut eyes out of construction paper, and tape them to the cardboard tube. Finally, tape the head to the neck.

  23. STEP 3
  24. To make the arms, cut 2 strips construction paper each about 2 inches wide and 6 inches long. Fold the strips like an accordion and then tape them to the side of the body.

  26. If you like, use construction paper and crayons to make a control panel with buttons or dails.  Tape your custom control panel to the front of the body. Now you have a homemade playmate -- your very own, shiny robot!
