  1. CRAFTY CROWN

  3. YOU'LL NEED:
  4. One 9x12-inch piece of construction paper
  5. Marker or pencil
  6. Scissors
  7. Tape
  8. Crown jewels
  9.  
  10. STEP 1
  11. Fold the construction paper in half lengthwise.  
  12.  
  13. With adult help, use a marker to draw the shape of a crown with 3 points touching the fold of the paper.

  15. STEP 2
  16. Cut out the crown. Separate the crown into 2 pieces. Lay the 2 pieces end-to-end and tape these ends together.

  18. Decorate the crown by gluing on pretend jewels, glitter, small beads, large pasta shapes, small balls of foil, rickrack, pom-poms, or paper.  If none of these are handy, draw jewels on your crown with crayons or markers.

  20. If necessary, let it dry. Put the crown around your head so it fits comfortably. Tape the ends together.

  23. FOR GROWN-UPS:
  24. Parents, if you're looking for a way to cheer up little faces, make them kings or queens for a day. Give them a crown and grant them a wish, such as choosing what to eat for dinner or a movie you can see together.
