Beetles feed on foliage and fruit. Beetle types include the asparagus, bean, striped or spotted cucumber, flea, and Colorado potato. In many cases, the larvae are equally destructive. Some beetles carry disease. Keep beetles out of your garden by cleaning up debris in the fall. Hand-pick larger beetles, and dust plants with diatomaceous earth to kill flea beetles. Use chemical controls if necessary.
