Spider mites are too small to see, but their effects are obvious. Technically, they're not insects, but they cause damage like insects. Foliage turns dry and bronze or dull red. In advanced stages, you'll see webs. Spider mites weaken roses by sucking juices from foliage. Because they don't like water, keep your plants well watered, and hose down the undersides of foliage. For heavy infestations, apply a miticide three times at three-day intervals.
