Vigorous evergreen to semievergreen, growing 18 to 24 inches tall. Deep green, 3-inch oval leaves. Fragrant white to yellow flowers appear in late spring and summer.

Makes a quick ground cover, but is a weed in parts of the eastern states. Grows in any soil and is best adapted as cover for ravines or steep banks. Must be contained by shearing. Space plants 24 to 36 inches apart. Avoid planting if trees or shrubs are in area - vine will climb over them and can kill them as it twines around. Grow new plants by division of roots and replant. Keep under control by annual heading back.
