  2. Also called hindu-rope, or honey plant
  3. (Hoya species)

  5. Attractive for its foliage, wax plant rewards those willing to wait a few years with shiny, sweetly scented flowers.

  7. Light
  8. Place in high light (southern exposure) in late winter and medium (bright indirect) light rest of year.  In summer, place outdoors in partial shade or filtered light.

  11. Keep soil evenly moist except during dormancy in the fall, when soil should be kept nearly dry.  Mist with tepid water.

  14. Maintain average temperatures during active growth and temperatures in the low 60s during dormancy.

  17. Support vining varieties or grow in hanging baskets.  Keep cool and nearly dry during dormancy in the fall.  Pot up young plants in February.  Provide warmth and moisture to initiate new growth.  Feed monthly, less often when in bloom.  Because flowers appear on old spurs, never prune this plant.  Never move plant during budding.  Propagate by tip cuttings taken in spring.
