Oval or round insects with a shell-like covering that are found on the undersides of leaves or stems. They leave a sticky substance on leaves. Wipe the bugs off with a soapy rag. Use a toothbrush on the stems of tough plants. Then rinse with clear water. Spray with malathion or organic pesticides for heavy infestations. Repeat the treatment for several weeks to kill insects in different stages of growth.
