Peacock plant gets its name from the patterns on its leaves. More than 100 species of calathea exist, some of which are quite difficult to grow indoors.

Place in high light year-round. Vary location by season for best results. Grows well if under artificial light 16 hours per day.

Keep soil evenly moist during active growth. Water less during dormancy from October through February Mist. High humidity essential.
Temperature
Maintain high temperatures for best growth. Tolerates average temperatures.
Comments
Repot each year in June. Feed every 14 days during active growth. Clean leaves monthly. Avoid leaf polishes. Remove dead leaves. Pinch back if leggy or poorly shaped. Propagate by division, suckers, leaf cuttings, or seed (with some varieties) in spring.
