When not full of fragrant, white tubular flowers, stephanotis still is attractive for its glossy, leathery leaves. The plant is tricky to grow, but worth a try. It's often used in bridal bouquets.
Light
Place in high light (full sun) as much as possible, especially in winter. Put outside in summer, gradually exposing to full sun.
Water
Keep moist at all times. Mist daily. Raise humidity. If too dry, buds and flowers drop. If plant is outside, spray daily with mist of water.
Temperature
Maintain average temperatures. Keep temperatures in low 60s during bloom.
Comments
Train to circular wire or trellis. Vine curls up and around, overlapping earlier growth. Feed every 14 days with mild solution from spring to fall. Prune in spring, applying ash to cuts to stop bleeding. Propagate by cuttings taken in spring. Provide cuttings with lots of humidity and temperatures above 77 degrees.
