Also called busy lizzy, patience plant, or patient lucy
(Impatiens wallerana)
Impatiens is a bushy, delicate plant that blooms profusely in a wide range of colors. A popular bedding plant, impatiens does well indoors with proper care.
Light
Place in medium (bright to bright indirect) light. Needs 14 hours of light for full bloom indoors. Augment with artificial light, if needed.
Water
Keep evenly moist. Dry soil causes bud drop and flower loss. Raise humidity by placing on tray filled with moist pebbles.
Temperature
Maintain temperatures of 50 to 60 degrees, if possible. Tolerates average temperatures. Keep out of hot or cold drafts to avoid leaf drop and yellowing.
Comments
Fertilize weekly with dilute solution during active growth. Pinch for bushiness, especially after bloom. Propagate by seed in late winter and early spring or stem cuttings anytime.
