Causes branches of all kinds of fruit trees to die suddenly from bottom to top. Tree fruits show black sapwood under the bark. Bush fruits turn grayish blue, wilt, and then die. You should avoid planting near or after susceptible plants like tomato, melon, and pepper. Remove the infected parts of the plant, disinfecting tools with bleach after each cut to prevent spread of the disease to healthy plants. The rest of the plant usually will recover.
