Turn leaves brown and create silvery webs on the undersides and in the leaf axils of apple, plum, pear, and other deciduous fruit trees. The tiny mites suck plant juices from the leaves and leave the foliage looking tarnished. Spray with dormant oil in early spring. Mites thrive on dusty conditions, so spray with water at high pressure to remove them. For severe infestation, use diazinon or malathion.
