Salvia
Also called scarlet sage
(Salvia sp.)
One- to 2-inch, tubular flowers clustered on spikes. Plants 14 to 20 inches tall; dwarf varieties 12 inches. Deep scarlet, pink, blue, white.
Soil and Light
Full sun or partial shade. Rich, well-drained soil.
Planting
Start 6 to 10 weeks early indoors or buy transplants.
Comments
Use plants in beds, borders, and patio tubs. Bright colors can be almost overpowering.
