  7. QPC Software is pleased to introduce QVT/Net 4.0
  8.  
  9. QVT/Net 4.0 is the 32-bit successor to the WinQVT/Net 3.9 product family. It is targeted for 
  10. Windows 95, and also for Windows NT 3.51. It will not run under Windows 3.1, although the 
  11. forthcoming release of Win32s 1.3 should remedy this.
  12.  
  13. Unlike WinQVT/Net 3.9, QVT/Net 4.0 is implemented as a set of executable programs, one for 
  14. each application:

  16.   Terminal
  17.   FTP
  18.   Gopher
  19.   Mail
  20.   News
  21.   lpr
  22.   FTP Server
  23.   RCP Server
  24.   SMTP Server
  25.  
  26. There is no 'Console' window.

  32. For users of WinQVT/Net 3.9:
  33.  
  34.   The QVTNET.INI file is obsolete, and not used by QVT/Net 4.0. Each application has a 
  35. separate .INI file, kept in the same directory as the program executable.
  36.  
  37.   You will be able to retain your QVTNET.RC and QVTNET.ACL files. QVTNET.RC should 
  38. be renamed as TERM.CFG and copied to the 'Terminal' subdirectory. QVTNET.ACL should 
  39. be copied to the 'Servers' subdirectory. If you use the FTP server, your password file should be 
  40. copied to the 'Servers' directory.

  43. Each application will go immediately into `Setup' mode the first time that it is started. We 
  44. recommend that you study these dialogs carefully and make sure that the initial setups are 
  45. plausible.

  47. Also, make sure that you use the `Setup - Printer' dialogs to select a printer for each application in 
  48. which you intend to use a printer!

  53. A Note on Fonts
  54.  
  55. The QVT/Net shareware distribution comes with a DEC font which is scaled to look best on a 
  56. standard VGA display (640x480). Fonts for higher-resolution displays are provided to registered 
  57. users.

  59. QVT/Term's DEC font implements the DEC Multinational Character Set. Available to registered 
  60. users by request are additional fonts which implement the German National Replacement 
  61. Character Set and the ISO Latin Nr 1 Character Set.

  64. We have tried to make QVT/Net 4.0 better in every way than its predecessors. We believe that it is 
  65. both more robust and more powerful than previous editions of WinQVT/Net. Enjoy!
