you find that it does, the purchase price, sometimes
called a registration fee, should be sent to the author.
Upon receipt of your payment, you will receive the most

free mail or phone support, certificates worth $20 toward
the purchase of upgrades and additional question sets as
they become available, and news of updates and releases
of similar products.
You are encouraged to copy the program and pass it
along to others, with the understanding that either you
or they will pay the registration fee if they find the
program useful.
The registration fee for "Crossing the Red Sea" is

Description:
"Crossing the Red Sea" (RS for short) is the ideal
Bible knowledge game for families to play together.
Players are automatically given questions of an appropriate
difficulty level and the value of each question is chosen at
random. Because of this, young children can play with parents,
pastors, and professors, and have an equal chance of winning.
Installation:
RS can be played directly from the floppy disk (unless it
has been compressed by the distributor). To play from the
floppy disk, simply type RS at the prompt followed by <Enter>.
If you choose to install it on your hard disk, start from the
DOS prompt of whichever drive you have your game disk in, and
type "install" (without quotes) and press the "Enter" key.
The install program will create a subdirectory on your hard
drive called "REDSEA", copy all the files to that subdirectory,
and make that the logged directory so that you can begin the
game immediately by typing RS <Enter>. To play subsequent
games you will need to type "cd c:\redsea" (without quotes)
followed by "Enter". This puts you into the proper subdirectory.
From this point you can just type "RS" followed by "Enter" to play
the game.
Special features:
RS contains several features not usually found in quiz games.
Most obvious of these is the graphic format. Rather than simply
displaying questions, RS lets you see the progress you are making
in the form of pictures. It is easy to verify where you are in
relation to other players at all times. This makes the game more
interesting and competitive.
Another unique feature is the automatic level adjustment.
Other quiz games may allow you to select one of two or three levels
from which to compete the entire game. RS is constantly adjusting
your level based on your responses to questions and there are ten
different levels available. Every time you miss a question, your
level for the next round drops by two, and a correct answer will
raise your level by one. This will assure that you get most of
the answers correct regardless of your knowledge, and also that
you don't face questions that are either extremely easy or
extremely difficult. Every player will deal only with questions
within his or her range of ability.
A feature that complements the previous one is the random question
value. Many games will have more difficult questions be worth more
points, thus assuring that the most knowledgeable player will win
every time. RS, on the other hand, selects the value of each
question completely at random. In this way the players with the
most need for Bible knowledge will not be discouraged by constantly
losing. In effect, the result of each game is determined purely
by chance, as each player will get about two right answers out of
every three questions. Why not invite your pastor or teacher over
to play the game and see how impressive you are in winning half
the time? (You can win more than half the time by following some
strategies included with the registered version.)
Game Play:
The game play for RS is greatly self-explanatory. (If
you wish to bypass the title screen and start the game dir-
ectly, press the <Esc> key during the title sequence.) After
you choose from the opening menu to play the game, you will see
a picture of the Red Sea with a dry path across it. The
program will ask you for the number of players. The maximum
number is nine. If there are more than nine players it would
be well to divide up into teams to play. Type a number from
one to nine. If you make a mistake, the program will give you
a chance to correct it. Once you verify the number, the program
will ask for the name of each player. There is an eight-letter
maximum on names so if your name is longer than that, use a
nickname or shortened form. Each player is represented by a
different colored marker to move across the sea. When all the
names are entered you will have one more chance to correct errors
after the program lists the players in order. Once you have
verified the names, press a key to begin the game.
Each player will be addressed by name, told the value of the
question to be asked, and then presented with a multiple-choice
question based on biblical content. To answer the question,
type a number 1-4 which corresponds to the correct answer. You
do not need to press <enter>. The program will evaluate your
answer, and tell you your current score.
If your answer was wrong, the program will tell you the correct
answer and the reference, and will pause until you press a key,
in case you want to look up the reference to check the answer.
The winner will be the first player to gain a total of at least
fifty points.
If you wish to quit before the game is completed you can
return to the operating system at any time by pressing <Esc>.
Any time you exit the game, you will be given the
opportunity to print a registration form or go directly
back to DOS. Use any key to alternate between these two
options and the <Enter> key to select the highlighted one.
