  41.              This was a tough question. You had to remember
  42.              to convert the LIST@NODE address to LIST@NODE.BITNET.

  48.         I sent a e-mail letter to LISTSERV@UA1VM.UA.EDU with the
  49.         command SUBSCRIBE ALT.ABUSE.RECOVERY JOE STUDENT, and I got
  50.         back an error message saying that "alt.abuse.recovery" is
  51.         unknown to the LISTSERV. What's going on?

  54.                 to subscribe to the group from a Usenet
  55.                 reader.

  111.      just forward the chain letter to these groups?

  113.           Chain letters violate the relevant posting rule (and are
  114.           likely to turn you into flame-bait).

  117.           most networks have Acceptable Usage policies that
  118.           strictly prohibit chain letters.

  121.           chain letter (along with an angry reply) to that

  128.           It is rude. When you re-post the entire contents of
  129.           a previous posting, you are forcing the readers to
  130.           re-read something that they have already read.

  132.           The purpose of reposting is to remind everyone what
  133.           was said, not to repeat what was said :)

  136. 13.  If someone spams a list that I am on, what should I do? Why
  137.      shouldn't I just send my angry replies to the list?

  139.           Your best bet is to ignore it. If you are really
  140.           angry, reply to the poster at his e-mail address,
  141.           or complain to the poster's site administrator.

  143.           You should not send your replies to the list because
  144.           the spammer is probably not even a member or the list,
  145.           and, if he is, he probably does not care about what
  146.           you think.
