  13. I.Installation Problems.
  14.   (All references to C: refer to the drive where Windows
  15.    is installed.  D: refers to your CDROM drive)
  16.

  18.   1) CyberPanel is written using Microsoft(R) Visual Basic(tm) v3.0.  
  19.      Microsoft(R) and other Visual Basic(tm) custom control (VBX) makers
  20.      insist that to preserve the license of these controls
  21.      they be installed in the Windows\System directory.  Many
  22.      shareware or other programs do not follow these guidelines
  23.      and hence are in violation of the distribution agreements for
  24.      these controls.  In addition, they cause problems for those
  25.      who do follow the rules.  In order to maintain the license 
  26.      agreement, CYBERPNL installs the Visual Basic controls from
  27.      each of the programs included on this CD ROM to the 
  28.      Windows\System directory during the setup of CYBERPNL.
  29.  
  30.      If during installation or operation of the CYBERPNL program
  31.      you encounter "cannot copy", "Invalid property", or "Invalid
  32.      file format" messages or any other problems, please perform 
  33.      the following steps:
  34.  
  35.         1. Exit Windows
  36.         2. At the DOS prompt enter the following commands:
  37.     
  38.        copy c:\windows\*.vbx c:\windows\system
  39.        erase c:\windows\*.vbx
  40.  
  41.         3. (optional) type: dir c:\*.vbx /s /p 
  42.            Locate all vbx files and copy them to the windows\system
  43.            directory then delete them from the original location.
  44.  
  45.         4. Restart windows and reinstall the CYBERdelic CDROM by choosing
  46.            file/run from Program Manager or File Manager and typing d:\setup
  47.  
  48.      In addition, some programs copy VBRUN300.DLL and other VBX files to
  49.      other areas besides Windows\System directory.  It is advisable to
  50.      search your entire machine for VBRUN300.DLL and delete any occurence not
  51.      in your Windows\system directory before installing the CyberPanel.  This
  52.      can be done by using the FileManager's search under File\Search.

  56.   2) In the unlikely event that the setup routine fails, manual installation 
  57.      can be done by following these instructions:  [Remember, this is ONLY as
  58.      a last resort, and should not be done until ALL other options have 
  59.      been tried and have failed.]

  62.     1.  EXIT WINDOWS
  63.  
  64.     2.  At the dos prompt ( C:\> ) type:
  65.  
  66.         C:\> CD \
  67.         C:\> MD \CYBERPNL
  68.         C:\> COPY D:\CYBERPNL\*.* C:\CYBERPNL
  69.         C:\> COPY D:\CYBERPNL\SYSTEM\*.* C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  70.         C:\> COPY D:\CYBERPNL\CYBERPNL.INI C:\WINDOWS
  71.         C:\> COPY D:\CYBERPNL\CYBERPNL.HLP C:\WINDOWS

  73.     3. If your CDROM drive is not "D:" then edit the CYBERPNL.ini file.
  74.            Change the line "Path=D:\" replacing D: with your drive
  75.            i.e. "Path=E:\"
  76.  
  77.         C:\> EDIT C:\WINDOWS\CYBERPNL.INI
  78.  
  79.     4.  Restart Windows and create a CyberPanel group and icon in Program
  80.             Manager by following the instructions below:
  81.  
  82.         1. From the Program Manager menu, select File then New
  83.         2. Select Program Group option and click Ok.
  84.         3. In the Group Name type: CYBERdelic Screen Savers
  85.         4. Click Ok to create the group.
  86.                 5. From the Program Manager menu, select File then New
  87.         6. Select Program Item option and click Ok.
  88.                 7. In Description, type: CyberPanel
  89.         8. In Command Line, type: C:\CYBERPNL\CYBERPNL.exe
  90.         9. In Working Directory, type: C:\CYBERPNL
  91.         10. Click OK to create the Icon.

  93.     5.  If you have further problems, please read the notes above.
  94.  
  95.    3) DISK SPACE - CYBERPNL takes up less than 1 megabyte of harddisk when
  96.       installed on your computer. During installation, Setup.exe copies 
  97.       about 500K of files to a temporary directory.  These files are 
  98.       required to install CYBERPNL but are deleted after the setup is 
  99.       finished. It can require 1.5 megabytes to install.  If you get the 
  100.       message that you do not have enough free space to install CYBERPNL,
  101.       move some files to a floppy or decrease the size of your swap file
  102.       until you have completed the installation, then you can put them back.

  122.     We are aware of a problem with certain computers and changing the
  123.     password on some screen savers.  Use Control Panel to change the
  124.     password where this might occur.
  125.  
  126.     The delay in CYBERPanel is in seconds whereas Control Panel uses
  127.     minutes.  The provides more flexibility but do not set this below
  128.     20 seconds or you will be constantly interrupted.
