  7. Thank you for trying this evaluation copy of ProtoView TreeViewX. 
  8. Read this file carefully as it will explain how to correctly use 
  9. this product.

  14. Samples for TreeViewX were built using Visual Studio 6.0.

  17.   Online Help

  20. ProtoView TreeViewX makes use of the latest technology for on-line help,
  21. using HTML help.  During the installation, three files (in the
  22. \PVAPPS\TreeViewX\SHARED directory) are copied to the Windows SYSTEM
  23. directory and registered using REGSVR32.EXE.  If, when you click the
  24. TreeViewX ActiveX Help icon in the program group, you get an error
  25. that the system is unable to open the TVX.CHM::INTRO.HTM file, please
  26. manually copy and reregister these three files.

  28. Due to the nature of this new technology, ProtoView has not been able to
  29. link properties and methods of TreeViewX to the on-line help when being
  30. viewed in development environments, such as Microsoft Visual Basic.
  31. ProtoView is working on this capability for future updates of TreeViewX
  32. and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

  35.   System Files

  38. TreeViewX was built using VC++ 5.0, meaning it requires 
  39. MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL.  If these DLLs are not on your
  40. system, TreeViewX will not register properly.

  42. In some cases you may have to update these files in the Windows 
  43. SYSTEM  directory.
  44.  
  45. If you experience problems registering or using TreeViewX,
  46. or the setup program warned you that it could not locate one 
  47. or more shared components, you may want to copy some or all of 
  48. the shared files available from the ProtoView CD-ROM in the 
  49. SHARED directory.

  51. ProtoView also has available the ZIP file SHARED42.ZIP with the 
  52. necessary shared files.  These files can be freely downloaded 
  53. from the ProtoView web site.

  55. The complete list of shared files necessary for TreeViewX
  56. ActiveX is below.  Use caution when updating the Windows
  57. SYSTEM directory to make sure you do not overwrite DLLs with
  58. older versions.  Doing so may inadvertently cripple other
  59. applications or your system.
