  10. I am fully aware of the politics of releasing a component that has something to do with Internet
  11. Browsers. This control now supports both Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape Navigator 4 in its
  12. browser synchronisation. As new versions of these browsers are released, the control will updated
  13. to reflect any structural change in these technologies
  14.  
  15. That's the political bit over, now the control overview...

  18. Some people may have downloaded the original URL-Link Control Source Code that I released a few
  19. months back. Well, that has now been superceeded by this new component which offers some powerful
  20. new features (and which took a lot longer to write, hence I have not released the source code
  21. this time). This control emulates as closely as possible the behaviour of URL links in Internet
  22. Browsers enabling programmers to create much more "flashy" dialogues etc... The control, however,
  23. is a bit difficult to set-up on the form but, once done, the control handles the rest. There is
  24. a help document included that explains al of the properties. There are several new features over
  25. the beta version - I suggest that you check out the Demo program (and project source code - this
  26. is an excellent way of learning how to use the control) to see what's new.

  28. Installation

  30. Simply run the Setup.exe program. This will install the control, the demo and the documentation.
  31. The demo is a comprehensive coverage of every aspect and feature of the control. The
  32. documentation is in Word '97 format - if you do not have Word '97 then wait for a week or so - 
  33. I'm converting the document to a web-page and adding to it to my web-site soon - check out the
  34. IE URL Link homepage (www.bigfoot.com/~davesoft/dsielink.htm) to see when this gets added.

  41. Remember! Everyone who assists in reporting bugs or giving advice on a control will get their
  42. name/email address/web page placed on the About Box of the final version of the control. Also, 
  43. beta testers are entitled to free versions of any shareware products released (components that
  44. provide primary functionality for a program are shareware).
