Explanation of Format:

The format of this list is designed to be Easy To Use and to be consise.
Each entry is alphabatized, by the last names of individual artists, when
necessary.  Groups and newsletters are alphabatized by the first word or
number in their name.

The entries themselves ideally consist of four lines.  The first line is
the name of the mailing list or the topic of the list.  The second line
is the address that you send requests to when you wish to join a discussion
group, while the third line lists the manager of the individual list's
address.  Only mail the manager if you have problems, or if you privately
want to thank him or her for providing the service.  The fourth line consists
of any comments or special instructions to join lists when needed.

Here's a hypothetical example:

The Ethel Merman Fan Club

  Mngr: [e-mail] : Lud Pugel
  To join this list, include the words "JOIN ETHEL" in the message body.

Now, if I wanted to join this list, run by Lud Pugel, I'd send e-mail to
"[e-mail]".  I'd use a random subject, and I'd put the
words "JOIN ETHEL" in the body of the message.  Chances are, that all would
go well, and my mailbox would soon be filled with messages on Ethel Merman.
If you should have problems with the list, mail the manager of the list,
Lud Pugel, at "[e-mail]".  Lud will probably gladly help you
out, but it may take a couple of days for him to respond to you.  Please
be patient.  ;-)

Dear Readers,

I'm sorry for the delay in updating this list, I know that it's been
over three months.  But, my summer was quite hectic, and Jason Kraley
([e-mail]) has left the MLoL for the time being.
His absence has left a sizeable void in the compilation of this list; I no
longer have him to hound me with those e-mail messages titled, "JOHN!!! WE
*NEED* TO UPDATE THE LIST!!!"  Sometimes the messages included some
more colorful (yet inspirational) language.  The frantic requests did
help encourage me to wade through the hundreds of requests for changes.

Jason's assistance will be sorely missed.  I'm grateful that he
incorporated me into the project when he initially thought up the idea.
Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up with the list myself; if not, I'll
find an assistant as soon as possible.

Over the next week or two, I'll be catching-up upon on the requests.
I started out with a 1.1 megabyte chunk of mail, since then, I'v chopped
it down to about 150K of requests.  Currently, I'm about 40% through it, so
I still need to make some changes.  I'll also begin testing some of the
lists that I think may have gone down.  If you notice any inaccurate data in
this list, please mail me with a correction.  Be patient though, it may
take a week for a response.
