  21. This is  a detailed listing of the best available winsock 
  22. client based shareware/freeware used in communicating 
  23. through a modem to the Internet.  I have indicated if there 
  24. is a prime location where the latest version is usually 
  25. available. With the  file names and associated data which I 
  26. have supplied all of these packages can also be readily 
  27. found on the Internet through search tools like Archie and 
  28. Gopher, often in multiple locations.

  30. Using these packages with a modem requires: 
  31.  
  32.        1.  Windows 3.1 or better. 
  33.        2.  A "slip" account with an Internet provider. 
  34.        3.  A special communications package capable of 
  35.      accessing the slip account through a modem,  such as 
  36.      Peter Tattam's shareware package Trumpet  Winsock 
  37.      version 1.0a   (twsk10a.zip available by ftp from: 
  38.      ftp.utas.edu.au:  /pc/trumpet/winsock)

  40. Standard disclaimer applies - as with everything  you use 
  41. these out at your own risk. Many of these packages are still 
  42. being developed by their authors. Being freeware or  low 
  43. cost shareware the rewards for their creativity and  long 
  44. hours of work are minimal at best. Appreciate their efforts.

  435.                 certainly just about right!  This is 
  436.                 another popular mail package.  Recommended, 
  437.                 (in spite of another icky bitty toolbar).
