- 1.0 Introduction
- The Cyberpreneurs' Guide to the Internet, is a collection of Internet
- Resources that might be of use, to those interested in entrepreneurial
- uses of the Internet. This is not intended to the be the definitive guide
- to entrepreneurship, but rather a collection of resources that
- entrepreneurs might find useful. The guide was Compiled as part of the
- coursework for ILS 606: Internet Resource Discovery, Organization, and
- Design (School of Information and Library Studies, University of

- Information on the guide was gathered using various internet search tools,
- along with suggestions from those in the Internet community

- 1.1 Who or what is a Cyberpreneur
- The dictionary defines an entrepreneur, as one who operates organizes or
- assumes the risks for a business venture. For all intents and purposes,
- this too, is true for the Cyberpreneur. Cyberpreneur is one who operates,
- organizes, or assume the risks for a business venture, that is related or
- operated through the global network known as the Internet.

- 1.2 Content of this guide
- In the context of this guide, resources are defined as sources of
- information relevant to the topic. These resources may be in the form of
- newsgroups, listservs, gopher sites, web pages and other guides. In this
- case resources may also be individual sources of information located with
- in gopher sites and web pages. The information resources listed in this
- guide are maintained by a variety of institutions, individuals and
- organizations, including commercial ones, the authors, do not endorse any
- commercial sites listed with in this guide, but rather suggest that they
- may be potential sources of information to the entrepreneur.

- The Cyberpreneurs' Guide to the Internet is organized by format of the
- resources, i.e.. www, gopher newsgroup; with in this organization,
- resources are arranged by relevance.

- marketing goods and services in an appropriate way on the Internet. To
- join, send a mail message to the subscription address containing

- name, such as Glenn Fleishman of Point of Presence Co. instead of Your
- Name...; do not put your e-mail address: the list processor automatically
- determines that from your reply address. If that is not your desired mail

- but should be focused around: how to reach consumers/end-users/purchasers;

- Babson, many relevant sites were indicated.

- Description: A valuable resource for anyone interested in small
- businesses; it lists Small Business Administration (SBA) offices
- country-wide. There is also information on financial assistance,

- access to the SBA BBS. A particularly valuable resource, is the General
- Information and Publications menu, available under most sections. These
- include informative publications from the SBA on everything from knowing
- your market to applying for loans. Comments: This gopher is extremely
- informative and well laid out.

- Description: "Started in August 1994, it already contains over 200 items
- culled from the thousands of possible business-related items on the
- INTERNET. Items are selected based on their potential usefulness to
- entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship students, business owners, faculty and
- consultants in the areas of small business and entrepreneurship, and
- policymakers." -Jerry Katz at Saint Louis University- Comments: This is an
- A+ resource; with information included in the form of pointers to other
- sites and original resources.

- This section contains resources in html format that are available through
- the World Wide Web. These resources must be accessed using a graphic web
- browser such as Mosaic, or a text browser such as lynx. Each resource is
- identified by title and URL (Uniform Resource Locator), and also has a
- short description provided by the authors of this guide.

- is a resource that is constantly being updated, so check it often. It has
- relevant articles and interviews, as well as timely tips and pointers to

- Description: Also called ENET, this resource contains sites of Interest to

- to advertise at a low cost.
