  3. Thank  you  for  your  faxed (or mailed) inquiry about how to obtain
  4. files from InterNet anonymous ftp archives of garbo.uwasa.fi at  the
  5. University   of   Vaasa,   Finland,   or   other   similar  systems.

  7. If  you are not familiar with the concept of InterNet archive sites,
  8. for practical reasons you should try  find  a  knowledgeable  person
  9. near  you  to  help  you with the basic concepts.  Universities (and
  10. a  number  business  firms)  are  most  often  parts  of  this  net.

  12. If you have access to InterNet, and you have the facilities use  FTP
  13. (File Transfer Protocol) then utilize that possibility to connect to
  14. a site such as ours, SimTel archives (especially if you are in North
  15. America),  the mirrors of SimTel, and Garbo mirrors NCTUCCCA.edu.tw,
  16. wuarchive.wustl.edu, archie.au, or any other ftp site that  has  the
  17. desired  files. If you are not familiar with FTP, you are welcome to
  18. ask me  for  our  prerecorded  instructions  for  garbo.uwasa.fi  by
  19. electronic  mail  if  you  have  a reachable electronic mail address
  20. yourself. If you do not receive my reply within  five  days,  please
  21. ask  your  own  site's system manager to construct a returnable mail
  22. path for you.

  24. If you don't have  FTP  then  (but  only  then)  consider  the  mail
  25. servers.   As explained in the above, I can send you our prerecorded
  26. instructions. They also cover the Garbo's mail server. Just send  an
  27. electronic  mail  request  to  my  email  address.   As for the mail
  28. servers  of  the  other  archive  sites,  trying  to  provide   that
  29. information is beyond our scope.

  31. If  these options are not open to you, consider BBSes. If you have a
  32. modem, you can call Vaasa Freeport BBS  for  the  files.  The  phone
  33. numbers  are  (+358)-61-3170972, 3170974 and 3248490, . The settings
  34. are 9600,N,8,1. When connecting the first time give  "bbs"  as  your
  35. login.  This  information is subject to changes. In the U.S. Detroit

  40. I regret to inform that I cannot take the time  to  arrange  sending
  41. programs  or other material from garbo.uwasa.fi archives by ordinary
  42. physical mail. This kind of service is given  rather  by  commercial
  43. shareware    distributors,   and   individual   shareware   authors.
