  59. The following guidelines should be used when requesting information from any
  60. of the participants:
  61.  
  62.  (1) The participant should first be contacted by email to determine their
  63.      time availability, and the types of records which are available at the
  64.      institution they named in the list.
  65.  
  66.  (2) The requestor should then state the record which they would like a copy
  67.      of. For example, a death certificate for Joe Smith of Orange County.
  68.      The request should be fairly specific.
  69.  
  70.  (3) Cost: Requestors are expected to reimburse the provider for all copy
  71.      and postage costs. If the requestor is asking for a significant number
  72.      of copies, they should offer to pay the provider up front for the costs.
  73.  
  74.  (4) Those who have asked for help more than once should strongly consider
  75.      adding their names to the list, even if it's only for their county
  76.      courthouse records, or their local library.

  79. Keep in mind that the purpose of this list is to obtain copies of a specific
  80. item, and not for general genealogic research.
  81.  
  82. I hope to post this list monthly to soc.roots. I encourage others who frequent
  83. an institution in their area to add their names to this list. You can add your
  84. name to the list by sending me email with your name, email address, state in
  85. which you do research, and the institution in which you frequent. In addition,
  86. if someone knows an FTP site where I can store this list, please let me know.
