  5. Now it is the bridge theme's turn to be developed.

Well, after Beethoven has given the lead throughout the Development section to the second theme, it is time to look at the other thematic members of the movement.  So now it is the bridge theme's turn to be elaborated.  Since there is much in common between the first theme and the bridge theme (especially the C major triad), whatever is done with one is as if it is done with both themes.

  12. The bassoon introduces a new version of the bridge theme, imitated by the horns.  Then, in a much closer imitation, the flutes, clarinets, oboes and piccolo join the joyful proceedings.

  14. The first violins add delicate and beautiful ornaments, and at the end, the timpani joins with a sustained tremolo note.
