The Fate Motive is condensed and finally leads to the Recapitulation.

Here, Beethoven indicates to play the sustained notes as sweetly (dolce) as possible, while the Fate Motive becomes more and more condensed. After the entrance of the timpani, the crescendo begins. But this time it is only two bars long, instead of the eight bars in the transition between the two last movements.
It is interesting to note that whereas in the transition between the two movements, the first and second themes of the Third movement were used, here it is only the Fate Motive which leads us to the victorious Recapitulation.
