Since the preceding passage is considered a bridge theme, then we can consider this new vigorous theme to be the second theme proper of the movement. The Fate Motive, with which the bridge passage ended, becomes the principal element of this new theme. It is clearly based on recurring sequences of this rhythmic motive, either ascending or descending, as in a question-answer routine.
This theme may also be considered the "Twin" brother of the first theme of the whole Symphony, as the two are based on a richly variegated recurrence of almost the same rhythmic motive. But, here it is based on triplets playing the three short notes.
