  10. The two-bar melody which is used for the sequential climbing is the same melody which closed the second theme.  Listen to bar 75 and compare the two passages

  12. Instead of beginning with an ascending step here, Beethoven reverses the melody and begins it with a downward step, played         
  13. legato.  Alternatively, the upward step is played staccato, giving greater impetus to the climbing drive.
