Many changes take place in the orchestration; the double basses
switch to bow playing, climbing step by step with the rhythmic motive. At the same time, there is an intensive dialogue between the string and wind instruments (in an ascending motion) and the timpani. They are joined by the trumpets (which accentuate the beginning of every bar), the violas and cellos in descending avalanches, and the horns which accentuate the strings.
