  5. Ludwig van Beethoven was born on December 16, 1770, and baptized the day after.

  7. In this year, Haydn was 38 years old and had just completed his 41st Symphony, while enjoying the secure patronage of Prince Esterhazy.  Mozart was 14 years old, and had completed his third opera ("Mitridate"); in this year, he had written five symphonies (Nos. 10-14).
