Merchant of Venice
Shakespeare William
Shakespeare, William (1564-1616) - English dramatist and poet widely
regarded as the greatest and most influential writer in all of world
literature. The richness of Shakespeare's genius transcends time; his keen
observation and psychological insight are, to this day, without rival.
Merchant of Venice (1595) - A comedy in which Bassanio wishes to travel to
see his love, Portia. The trip is financed by Antonio, Merchant of Venice,
who borrows money from Shylock in exchange for a pound of flesh.
