- As part of Aztech New Media's 7-volume Complete Home Entertainment Shareware
- Series, we believe "Childrens' Shareware Games" represents the very best
- VGA/EGA games the shareware market has to offer to date.
-
- It is important to note that the price for this CD-ROM covers only the
- the medium, research, assembly, production, packaging, and distribution
- costs. The actual intellectual properties (that is, the programs) require
- separate payment to the author(s) if you are going to use them. These
- programs are "shareware." They are not free unless specifically identified
- as such.
-
- White menu entries with black text will probably have to be run from a
- hard disk. We tried these specific games on several different machine
- configurations and they ran fine on some and hung on others. However, we
- thought they were worthwhile enough to be included in spite of themselves.
-
- All other entries will run directly from the CD-ROM, although you will not
- be able to save games or reconfigure the options (you can't change CD-ROM
- contents).
-
- NeoSoft Corp. (Bend, Oregon) graciously consented to permit Aztech to use
- their unregistered QuikMenu program. It is an elegant, simple and complete
- menuing system that was designed for a networking environment. We have set
- up all the games into submenus to make your selections effortless.

-
- Most of the programs run directly from this CD-ROM. To access the menu,
- simply log on to your CD-ROM drive (eg D:) and type in GO.

-
- Please remember, QuikMenu is shareware and if you use it for other than the
- pre-determined menuing function of this CD-ROM, you must register QuikMenu
- with NeoSoft. You will find all the pertinent details in the QuikMen1
- directory. The QUIKMENZ directory contains Aztech's game menu.
-
- The games may be run from the DOS prompt, without using the QuikMenu
- program, by changing to the directory of the game that interests you.
-
- Then just type RUNME.
-
- Some games want to write a configuration file or a high score file to disk.
- Since it is not possible to write information to a CD-ROM (Compact Disc-Read
- Only Memory), these programs can not write the required file(s) and may
- therefore not run directly from the CD-ROM. We estimate perhaps less than
- 10% of the programs on this disc are like this. These games should be
- copied to your hard disk or to a floppy.
-
- A few of the games may not have a "Quit" or "Exit" command - why? We may
- never know. Sometimes the exit command is identified in the documentation -
- but who reads documentation? First try the ESC (Escape) key. Then try
- holding down the Ctrl (Control) key and pressing, one after the other, Q, W,
- E, A, S, D, Z, X, C. Try the same with the Alt key. Failing all these, try
- the "BREAK" key or holding down the CTL and/or ALT keys and then pressing
- "BREAK." The preceding represent just about every conceivable exit command.
-
- When nothing else works, use the reboot function. Hold down the Ctrl
- (Control) and Alt keys at the same time and then press Del (Delete).
