  9. Aviator Screensavers for Windows are screensaver modules that work
  10. with the screensaver that is built into Windows 3.1. These screensaver 
  11. modules feature aviation art by Bob Bennington and contain aviation 
  12. artwork.

  14. Two modules are provided on the Aviator CD-ROM: Jet Fighters and WWII
  15. Fighters.

  17. The following 8 World War II American fighters are featured on the WWII
  18. Fighters screensaver:

  20.         F4F Wildcat        F4U Corsair
  21.         F6F Hellcat        P-38 Lightning
  22.         P-39 Airacobra        P-40 Warhawk
  23.         P-47 Thunderbolt    P-51 Mustang

  25. The following 8 jets are featured on the Jet Fighters screensaver:

  27.         A4 Skyhawk        F14 Tomcat
  28.         F4 Phantom        F15 Eagle
  29.         A6 Intruder        F16 Falcon
  30.         A10 Thunderbolt        F18 Hornet

  32. When one of these screensavers is invoked, it displays full-screen images 
  33. of the fighters sequentially, as in a slide show. By using the Setup 
  34. feature, you can choose to display any combination of fighters. For 
  35. example, you could choose to display only the F4F, P-39, and the 
  36. P-40 of the WWII Fighters screensaver. Each screensaver also features 
  37. password protection.

  40. Copying the Screensaver Module to Your Hard Drive

  44. The WWII Fighters screensaver module is contained in a file called 
  45. WARBIRDS.SCR. The Jet Fighters screensaver module is contained in a 
  46. file called FIGHTERS.SCR. These files must be copied to your Windows 
  47. directory. If you know how to copy files, simply copy the files 
  48. WARBIRDS.SCR and FIGHTERS.SCR to your Windows directory. If you 
  49. do not know how to copy files, follow the steps below.

  51.     1) Put the Aviator CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive on your computer.
  52.     2) Double Click the File Manager icon. The File Manger icon is 
  53.            typically found in the Main Program Group.
  54.     3) Once File Manager has been started, select the Copy menu item 
  55.            from the File menu. The Copy dialog box will be displayed.
  56.     4) In the From edit field type
  57.  
  58.         d:savers\warbirds.scr
  59.  
  60.        where d is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  61.  
  62.     5) In the To edit field, type the directory of your 
  63.            Windows application. This is usually
  64.  
  65.         c:\windows

  67.     6) Click the OK button.

  69.         7) Repeat these steps for the file fighters.scr.

  71. The files should be copied to your Windows directory. Once the files have
  72. been copied to your Windows directory, you are ready to configure 
  73. your Windows screensavers.

  76. Setting up the Screensavers

  79. Follow these steps to setup your Classic Warbirds Screensaver.
  80.  
  81.     1) Double-click the Control Panel icon. The Control Panel icon 
  82.            is usually found in the Main program group.
  83.     2) Double-click the Desktop icon from the Control Panel. The 
  84.            Desktop dialog box should appear.
  85.     3) In the Desktop dialog box, you will find a Screensaver area. 
  86.            Click the arrow next to the Name list box to open the 
  87.            Screensaver Name list.
  88.     4) Select the WWII Fighters name from the Name list for the WII
  89.            Fighters screensaver. Select the Jet Fighters name from the
  90.            Name List for the Jet Fighters screensaver.
  91.     5) You can click the Setup button to customize your screensavers.
  92.         6) Click the OK button to save your configuration.

  94. NOTE: If you are operating in a 800-by-600 or 1024-by-768 pixel video mode 
  95. the images displayed by the screensaver module will not cover the entire 
  96. screen. The images will be displayed in the center of the screen.

  99. Customizing Your Aviator Screensavers

  102. When you are setting up your screensavers, you have the option to customize
  103. the screensaver by clicking the Setup button in the Desktop dialog box. 
  104. When you click the Setup button, the Screensaver Custom Dialog Box will be 
  105. displayed.

  108. Choosing The Aircraft You Want to Display

  112. The Screensaver Dialog Box allows you to choose the airplanes that you want
  113. to display. You can choose to display any combination of the eight aircraft
  114. in the collections. The Dialog Box contains a group of eight named 
  115. checkboxes. Clicking the appropriate checkbox toggles the checkbox. 
  116. When the checkbox contains an X in it, the associated airplane is 
  117. displayed by the screensaver. By clicking on the checkboxes, you can 
  118. specify the airplanes that will be displayed by the screensaver.

  121. Setting the Display Speed

  124. The Screensaver Dialog Box allows you to set the time delay between 
  125. airplanes. Three options are offered: Fast, Medium, and Slow. Fast allows 
  126. 5 seconds between displays. Medium allows 10 seconds between displays. 
  127. Slow allows 15 seconds between displays. To change the speed, simply 
  128. click on the appropriate radio button from the Speed Options group.

  131. Password Protection

  134. The Screensaver Dialog Box allows you to set password protection for 
  135. the screensaver. When password protection is turned on, the user 
  136. cannot go back to Windows until the correct password has been entered. 
  137. You can turn password protection on and off by clicking the 
  138. Password Protected checkbox in the lower left corner of the dialog box. 
  139. When password protection is turned on, you have the option of setting 
  140. the password. To set the password, click the Set Password button. 
  141. The dialog box that allows you to enter your password will be displayed. 
  142. You must know the previous password to change the password.

  144. NOTE: The Aviator Screensavers are true Windows 3.1 screensaver modules -
  145. just like Flying Windows that comes with Windows 3.1. Therefore, the 
  146. Screensaver Dialog Box uses the same password as the other Windows 3.1 
  147. screensaver modules. Changing the password to any Windows 3.1 module 
  148. (including the Aviator Screensavers) changes the password for all 
  149. Windows 3.1 modules. In other words, all Windows 3.1 screensaver 
  150. modules use the same password.

  156. Aviator Screensavers are bonus modules of the Aviator CD-ROM by Eagle 
  157. Multimedia Software, Inc. and are, therefore, covered by the same 
  158. Software License and Warranty. By using this product, you agree to 
  159. the terms and conditions outlined in the Software License and Warranty 
  160. included with the Aviator CD-ROM.
