- __________________
-
- Aviator is a multimedia application designed to help you learn about
- airplanes and aviation. Aviator offers an easy-to-use interface and
- uses photos, videos, sound effects, and music to make learning
- exciting and fun. Please read this file completely so that you can
- get the most out of Aviator.

- 256-Color Video Modes
- _____________________
-
- Most computer systems shipped over the past few years are able to
- display 256 colors. However, many systems are configured at the
- factory for a 16-color mode. Aviator uses 256-color photos and videos.
- Although Aviator can run in 16-color video modes, you should set
- up your system to display 256 colors. Refer to your system manuals
- and the Microsoft Windows manual for instructions on setting the
- video modes for your computer system.

- Memory and Multimedia
- _____________________
-
- Multimedia applications place a heavy burden on your computer system.
- When running Aviator, we suggest that you close all other applications.
- In addition, you should set up virtual memory on your computer. With
- virtual memory, your computer can use space from your hard drive
- as RAM. If you get memory errors while running Aviator, make sure that
- you have enough virtual memory set up on your computer. Please refer
- to your Windows manual for instructions on setting up virtual memory.

-
- Sound and Image Quality
- _______________________
-
- Every multimedia computer is unique. Therefore, Aviator will look and
- sound different on every computer. The playback quality of Aviator
- on your system depends on a number of factors including your system's
- CPU, monitor, CD-ROM, video card, RAM and so forth. Aviator was
- designed for quality playback on almost any multimedia computer.

- Tips on Using Aviator
- _____________________
-
- 1) Multimedia applications consume the majority of your computer's
- resources. Close all other applications before running Aviator.
-
- 2) Set up virtual memory on your computer. Refer to your Windows
- manual for instructions on doing this.
-
- 3) Aviator should be enjoyable. Sit back and relax. Since multimedia
- applications use a lot of data (and CD-ROM drives are pretty slow),
- it may take several seconds for the system to respond after you
- click on a button. Once you click a button, wait a few seconds
- for the system to respond to your input.
-
- 4) Don't double-click buttons. A single click is all that is
- required. Double-clicking will result in unpredictable behavior.
-
- 5) Take a few minutes to review the manual and become familiar
- with the major sections of Aviator.
-
- 6) Above all - have fun.

- necessary modifications to your WIN.INI file. If you do not have a
- Microsoft Video for Windows driver installed on your system, you
- will also need to run the Microsoft Video for Windows Setup program
- described in the next section. Follow these instructions to run
- the Aviator Setup program.

-
- then click the OK button.
-
- 3) The Aviator Setup program will begin. Follow the instructions
- of the screen.
