- 256-Color Video Modes
- _____________________
-
- Most computer systems shipped over the past few years are able to
- display 256 colors. However, many systems are configured at the
- factory for a 16-color mode. Aviator uses 256-color photos and videos.
- Although Aviator can run in 16-color video modes, you should set
- up your system to display 256 colors. Refer to your system manuals
- for instructions on setting the video modes for your computer system.

- Memory and Multimedia
- _____________________
-
- Multimedia applications place a heavy burden on your computer system.
- When running Aviator, we suggest that you close all other applications.
- In addition, you should set up virtual memory on your computer. With
- virtual memory, your computer can use space from your hard drive
- as RAM. If you get memory errors while running Aviator, make sure that
- you have enough virtual memory set up on your computer. Please refer
- to your system manual for instructions on setting up virtual memory.

- Sound and Image Quality
- _______________________
-
- Every Macintosh system is unique is some way. Therefore, Aviator will look and
- sound different on every computer. The playback quality of Aviator
- on your system depends on a number of factors including your system's
- CPU, monitor, CD-ROM, video capability, RAM and so forth. Aviator was
- designed for quality playback on almost any Mac II computer.

- Tips on Using Aviator
- _____________________
-
- 1) Multimedia applications consume the majority of your computer's
- resources. Close all other applications before running Aviator.
-
- 2) Set up virtual memory on your computer. Refer to your system
- manual for instructions on doing this.
-
- 3) Aviator should be enjoyable. Sit back and relax. Since multimedia
- applications use a lot of data (and CD-ROM drives are pretty slow),
- it may take several seconds for the system to respond after you
- click on a button. Once you click a button, wait a few seconds
- for the system to respond to your input.
-
- 4) Don't double-click buttons. A single click is all that is
- required. Double-clicking will result in unpredictable behavior.
-
- 5) Take a few minutes to review the manual and become familiar
- with the major sections of Aviator.
-
- 6) Above all - have fun.

- Tips on Aviator Videos for the Macintosh
- ________________________________
-
- When you select a video from the Aviator Videos menu, the video is
- displayed in the center of the screen. The video window contains a control
- bar along the bottom that allows you to play the video. When playing the
- Aviator Videos, we suggest you use the following procedure to minimize
- the possibility of running short on memory (some systems will lock-up
- when a QuickTime movie is played and there is not enough memory available).
-
- 1) Select the video that you want to see by clicking the line in the scrolling
- text field that describes the video. The video window will be displayed in the
- center of the screen.
-
- 2) Use the control bar at the bottom of the video to play the video. You may
- play the video as many times as you like. However, it is a good idea to play
- the video only once or twice before closing the video window.
-
- 3) Close the video window by clicking on the square in the upper-left corner
- of the video window.
-
- 4) Select the next video and follow steps 2 through 4.
