  15.        This  manual  page  documents  the  GNU version of p✓pr✓ri✓in✓nt✓tf✓f.
  16.        p✓pr✓ri✓in✓nt✓tf✓f prints the _✓f_✓o_✓r_✓m_✓a_✓t    string,    interpreting  `%'  direc-
  17.        tives  and  `\'    escapes    in the same way    as the C `printf'
  18.        function.  The _✓f_✓o_✓r_✓m_✓a_✓t argument is re-used as many times as
  19.        necessary to convert all    of the given arguments.

  22.        to 3 digits) specifying a character to print, and  `\xhhh'
  23.        as  a hexadecimal number    (`hhh' is 1 to 3 digits) specify-
  24.        ing a character to print.  It has  an  additional  escape,
  25.        `\c',  which  causes  p✓pr✓ri✓in✓nt✓tf✓f to produce no further output,
  26.        and an additional directive, `%b', which    prints its  argu-
  27.        ment  string with `\' escapes interpreted the way they are
  28.        in the _✓f_✓o_✓r_✓m_✓a_✓t string.
