  58.     The DS-100 is a two channel asynchronous serial RS-232
  59. communication adapter  with versatile interrupt selection for
  60. the IBM AT.   The adapter  features  the  extended 16-bit AT 
  61. bus,  which  provides access to the computer's additional
  62. interrupts.  The  DS-100  has a versatile interrupt feature
  63. which  allows  the user  to select the desired interrupt, or to
  64. share  an  interrupt with  another device.  Users may select
  65. from  interrupts  IRQ2-7, 10-12 or 14-15.

  67. The  extended base address capability of the DS-100 supports 
  68. any COM  port.   Two  16450  UART's  provide  two  independent 
  69. ports, allowing  the user to communicate to two separate
  70. devices.  The  DS-100  supports baud rates to 56K (maximum of
  71. 256K with optional 16550). In case  a  limited  number of
  72. interrupt levels  are  available  for system  expansion, the
  73. DS-100 is capable of sharing an  interrupt with another device
  74. with the same feature.

  80.     Both serial communication ports have user-selectable addresses
  81. via two DIP switches. These switches allow each serial port to
  82. reside anywhere in the I/O space on eight byte boundaries. Bits
  83. A0, A1, and A2 are used to access the eight internal registers
  84. of the 16450. Each channel also offers enable/disable
  85. capabilities.

  87. Decoding of all 16 address lines provides compatiblity with
  88. systems using COM3 at 3220H and COM4 at 3228 while also greatly
  89. reducing the possibility of addressing conflicts in I/O
  90. intensive systems.

  238. DESCRIPTION:
  239.  
  240.     The DSDP-100 is a multiple channel communication board which
  241. supports two parallel ports and two RS-232 serial ports. Each
  242. serial port uses a 16450 UART supporting baud rates to 56K.
  243. Optionally available are 16550 UARTs which support baud rates to
  244. 256K and provide an additional FIFO mode to reduce CPU overhead.
  245. Each Centronics compatible parallel interface consists of an
  246. eight bit bi-directional data port, a five bit status port, and
  247. a five bit command port.
  248.  
  249.     Each printer port of the DSDP-100 supports bi-directional data
  250. transfer. This feature allows data to be input through the
  251. printer interface.  Both the serial and parallel interfaces are
  252. address selectable allowing the ports to be installed in the
  253. computer without conflicting with other devices. Each port may
  254. also be individually enabled or disabled.  Versatile interrupt
  255. circuitry allows each port access to IRQ2-IRQ7. The DSDP-100
  256. also has interrupt sharing capabilities, allowing it to share
  257. interrupts with other Quatech adapters supporting this feature.

  259.     The DSDP-100 occupies only one expansion slot in the PC. All
  260. ports may be accessed through a high density D-62 connector. An
  261. adapter cable is included to convert the D-62 into 2 D-25 female
  262. (parallel port) and 2 D-25 male (serial port) connectors.

  264. ADDRESS/INTERRUPT SELECTIONS:
  265.  
  266.     All four ports of the DSDP-100 are address selectable using a
  267. block of 8 dip switches. This allows each serial port to reside
  268. in any 8-byte I/O address range from 0000H to 03F8H. Similarly
  269. the parallel ports may reside in any 4-byte I/O address range
  270. from 0000H to 03FCH.

  272.     Each port of the DSDP-100 may select an interrupt in the range
  273. IRQ2-IRQ7 using a six position jumper block. An interrupt
  274. sharing circuit implemented on the board allows multiple ports
  275. to share the same interrupt level or to share the interrupt with
  276. another Quatech adapter supporting this feature.

  278. Each port of the DSDP-100 can be enabled or disabled by setting
  279. the appropriate jumper as defined in the manual.
