- The collection of files in SFWAR14A.ZIP and SFWAR14B.ZIP constitute
- the SFWARM14 patch for version 1.96 of Street Fighter 2.
-
- SFWAR14A.ZIP contains all 13 of the patched fighter resource files (.re).
- SFWAR14B.ZIP contains the rest of the patched SFWARM14 files.
- SFWAR14C.ZIP contains the miscellaneous SF2IBM 1.96 files needed to make
- a complete, playable SF2IBM game. So, if you already have the original
- version 1.96, SFLIU 2.0, or SFLIU 2.01, the only files you will need to
- obtain the complete SFWARM14 patch are SFWAR14A.ZIP and SFWAR14B.ZIP.
-
- When SF2IBM version 1.96 first came out, almost all of the blood had been
- replaced by "stars" (Blanka's bite still had blood). This SFWARM14 patch
- puts it back in. However, if you choose, you can still play it without
- blood.
-
- Because Derek Liu and Brian Chan have cleverly managed to create all the
- files needed to add Balrog to SF2IBM, there are now 13 possible World
- Warriors (Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun Li, E. Honda, Dhalsim, Zangief,
- M. Bison, Sagat, Balrog, Andy Bogard, and Terry Bogard). However, the
- .exe file will only allow 12 to be in any one playing configuration.
- Therefore, I have put together three sets of playing configs; 4 each
- for Balrog and Andy (SFWARM1.BAT, SFWARMA1.BAT, SFWAR1B.BAT, and
- SFWARA1B.BAT), Balrog and Terry (SFWARM2.BAT, SFWARMA2.BAT, SFWAR2B.BAT,
- and SFWARA2B.BAT), and Andy and Terry (SFWARM3.BAT, SFWARMA3.BAT,
- SFWAR3B.BAT, and SFWARA3B.BAT). Also, I include SFWARM.BAT, which
- allows for the easy choice of any of the 12 playing configs of SFWARM14.
-
- Six of these configurations (SFWARM1.BAT, SFWARM2.BAT, SFWARM3.BAT,
- SFWAR1B.BAT, SFWAR2B.BAT, and SFWAR3B.BAT) make it easier to control
- your fighter by reducing the number of keys required to execute a
- special move (Dragon Punch, Fireball, etc.).
-
- The other six configurations (SFWARMA1.BAT, SFWARMA2.BAT, SFWARMA3.BAT,
- SFWARA1B.BAT, SFWARA2B.BAT, and SFWARA3B.BAT) try to remain consistent
- with the arcade versions of the keys to control the fighters.
-
- And the six configs that end with the letter "B" are those with the
- blood restored.
-
- All of the configurations are an attempt to enable as many of the
- special fighter moves of the "super" version of the original uploaded
- SF2 V1.90, add some brand new moves, and fix some bugs. However, none
- of these configurations are intended to play like any other arcade or
- home version of Street Fighter 2.
-
- In addition to what the first 13 versions of SFWARM did,
- this 14th version does the following:
-
- 1) Adds the sprite images to all of the fighter resource files (.re)
- to enable the blood (and the "puke" too! :-) ).
- 2) Makes all needed changes and additions to the rest of the config
- files (.ide, .cfg, .bat, and the sequence files, which were renamed
- to .sbl for the ""blood" configs) to enable the blood.
- 3) Makes a number of changes to the fighter hit reactions.
- 4) Switches the trigger keys in the "easy" configs of Terry's
- Rising Tackle and Crack Shot moves because, if the opponent was
- in range, the tapping of the kick key would "push" him out of range
- of the Rising Tackle.
- 5) Changes the meaningless message after a bout "You must defeat
- Sheng Long!" to "Prepare for a new fighter!".
- 6) Supplies some better-sounding .voc files from various sources.
-
- Bugs!
- -----
- 1) Occasionally, if the 2 fighters jump toward each other at the same
- time, a ground throw can be done in the air. Then, at the normal end
- of the throw, both fighters are still up in the air and can then begin
- another move or series of moves there.
- 2) Occasionally, a computer fighter may start another move while still
- in the air or a move may suddenly not work properly. This is possibly
- due to the "interruptability" of moves/attacks.
- 3) After a number of matches have been played without exiting, the game
- may suddenly exit out to DOS with an "insufficient memory" error. This
- is probably a bug in the xsf196.exe file.
-
- Note: The collection of files in SFWAR14A.ZIP and SFWAR14B.ZIP are a
- PATCH to version 1.96 of SF2IBM and are NOT playable unless included
- with SFWAR14C.ZIP or with the original SF2IBM 1.96, or with SFLIU 2.0,
- or with SFLIU 2.01. Nor will they work properly with any previous
- version of SF2IBM. XSF196.EXE, SF2_CHAR.SF2, SF2CFG.EXE, TITLE.229,
- TLOGO.SF2, and a number of .voc files replace files from version 1.96
- of the game.

- **********************************************************************
- * Note: This version of SFWARM does NOT need any other collection of *
- * "add-on" files to work. However, if you have only the SFLIU20 *
- * version of SF2IBM, SFWARM14 will use those files renamed by *
- * SFLIU20. Many thanks to Rucky, Hacker of Dhalsim, Derek Liu, *
- * Cliff Chen, Ben Cantrick, Greg Grimsby and all other patch authors *
- * for their fine work improving this great game! And a special thanks*
- * to Brian Chan for the SF2IBM FAQ. To avoid confusion, all needed *
- * configuration files (.bat, .cfg, .ide, .key, .seq, .re, .voc, etc.)*
- * have been included in this package. *

- Instructions:
-
- Unzip and copy the files from SFWAR14A.ZIP and SFWAR14B.ZIP (and
- SFWAR14C.ZIP) into your SF2 directory.
-
- If you intend to play the game with sound enabled, run EXTVOCS.BAT,
- which will copy some .voc files to other names. Many of the same
- sounds are used for the different fighters under different filenames.
- To save space, only one copy of each was stored in the .zip files.
-
- SFWARM.BAT will run any of the 12 playing configs of SFWARM14 or SF2CFG.EXE.
- SFWARM1.BAT runs the "easy, no-blood" version with Balrog and Andy.
- SFWARMA1.BAT runs the "arcade, no-blood" version with Balrog and Andy.
- SFWARM2.BAT runs the "easy, no-blood" version with Balrog and Terry.
- SFWARMA2.BAT runs the "arcade, no-blood" version with Balrog and Terry.
- SFWARM3.BAT runs the "easy, no-blood" version with Andy and Terry.
- SFWARMA3.BAT runs the "arcade, no-blood" version with Andy and Terry.
- SFWAR1B.BAT runs the "easy, blood" version with Balrog and Andy.
- SFWARA1B.BAT runs the "arcade, blood" version with Balrog and Andy.
- SFWAR2B.BAT runs the "easy, blood" version with Balrog and Terry.
- SFWARA2B.BAT runs the "arcade, blood" version with Balrog and Terry.
- SFWAR3B.BAT runs the "easy, blood" version with Andy and Terry.
- SFWARA3B.BAT runs the "arcade, blood" version with Andy and Terry.
-
- Note: All of the SFWARM configs will also run properly if installed
- into a directory containing only the SFLIU20 collection of 1.96 files.
