  1. You should create the "categories"
  2. file before you create the "nominee
  3. file".  Get your list of the Academy
  4. award nominations ready and start
  5. entering the categories in this
  6. format.

  8. # of categories
  9. category #1 (short name)
  10. category #1 (long name)
  11. category #2 (short name)
  12. category #2 (long name)
  13. category #3 (short name)
  14. category #3 (long name)
  15.  
  16. and so on....
  17.  
  18. The short name must be less than 14
  19. characters.  The long name must be
  20. less than 25 characters.

  22. Here is what the start of the
  23. "categories" file should look like.

  26. best picture
  27. best picture
  28. best actor
  29. best actor
  30. best actress
  31. best actress
  32. supp. actress
  33. supporting actress
  34. supp. actor
  35. supporting actor
  36. best director
  37. best director
  38. foreign lang.

  41. and so on...

  43. This is assuming that there are 23
  44. categories altogether.  Each category
  45. has two names.

  47. *Make sure that the number of
  48. categories is the TOP line of your
  49. list.  When you cursor up to the top,
  50. the cursor should stop on the number
  51. and not go past it.

  53. *Just use lower-case letter. Capitals
  54. aren't needed.

  56. *Save the file by pressing CTRL-S.
  57. Enter "categories" for the filename
  58. (without the quotes).  Press Y when
  59. asked "Replace this file?"

  61. *Have fun doing all of this data
  62. entry.  Feel free to curse the
  63. Academy for not announcing their
  64. nominations until after LOADSTAR
  65. #58's deadline.  If they'd been on
  66. the ball, I would have created the
  67. "categories" and "nominee file" files
  68. for you and you wouldn't have to do
  69. all of this typing.

  71. Of course then you wouldn't have
  72. EDSTAR (SEQ), which can come in very
  73. handy for modifying SEQuential files.
  74. Add the two files that comprise
  75. EDSTAR (SEQ) to your utility disk.
