You should create the "categories"
file before you create the "nominee
file". Get your list of the Academy
award nominations ready and start
entering the categories in this
format.
# of categories
category #1 (short name)
category #1 (long name)
category #2 (short name)
category #2 (long name)
category #3 (short name)
category #3 (long name)
and so on....
The short name must be less than 14
characters. The long name must be
less than 25 characters.
Here is what the start of the
"categories" file should look like.
23

and so on...
This is assuming that there are 23
categories altogether. Each category
has two names.
*Make sure that the number of
categories is the TOP line of your
list. When you cursor up to the top,
the cursor should stop on the number
and not go past it.
*Just use lower-case letter. Capitals
aren't needed.
*Save the file by pressing CTRL-S.
Enter "categories" for the filename
(without the quotes). Press Y when
asked "Replace this file?"
*Have fun doing all of this data
entry. Feel free to curse the
Academy for not announcing their
nominations until after LOADSTAR
#58's deadline. If they'd been on
the ball, I would have created the
"categories" and "nominee file" files
for you and you wouldn't have to do
all of this typing.
Of course then you wouldn't have
EDSTAR (SEQ), which can come in very
handy for modifying SEQuential files.
Add the two files that comprise
EDSTAR (SEQ) to your utility disk.
It may come in handy again someday.
