The LABORATORY
Professor P.U. Plum was conducting experiments with x-rays of
works of art. It was rumored that he performed many verifications of
authenticity for a British antiques dealer named Lovejoy. It was all
very hush-hush since Lovejoy was reputed to be a "divvy", that is, a
person who could instinctively "divine" whether an object was real or
fake.
If you look at the machine you find a scrap of paper from Plum,
who was apparently in the habit of writing cryptic notes. It's in
reversed Sanskrit, so you'll need to read it in the presence of a
mirror.
Look at the plates and you'll get a clue that the Eunuch must be
shot.
