Photos from Madjack Barnes
Text by Dave Moorman
Jack Barnes, a loyal LOADSTARite,
is one of my "email providers,"
sending out many interesting and down-
right provocative FWDs. Among the
latest was a link to an amazing photo
essay web page.
I immediately saved the pictures
to my drive. This is certainly the
kind of thing LOADSTAR could use!
Normally, I would have used Adobe
Photo Delux to massage the pix to
320x200 GIFs, then used GoDot to bring
them into the C-64.
But one of the members of the
Secret Society of Commodore Coders
gave us a link to a great "cross-
platform" program: Project One. This
utility works in Windows, and converts
JPG, GIF, and BMP graphics to Koala or
Drazpaint formats for the C-64.
Now, Project One does not come
even close to the power and elegance
of GoDot. It simply does a conversion.
But it does it quick! In an hour or
two, I had Koalas, which I then
converted to SHP format with STBPRINT,
and put together in a MediaMeister
presentation.
Cross-platform people will
certainly want to get a copy of
Project One. Moreover, if you are into
C-64 programming at all, you should
check out the
Secret Society of Commodore Coders
forum at:
http://ssocc.proboards45.com/
This is a great place to ask
questions, get into discussions, learn
about things like OOP and Modular
programming techniques, brag about
strokes of genius, and get ahold of
some truly amazing tools and
utilities.
You can visit as a Guest, but
membership in the SSoCC is FREE -- and
does come with benefits, such as
access to the SSoCC Vault.
So, enjoy the show -- and hie thee
hence to the SSoCC forum!
