  5.     I just heard that a company called
  6. "Tulip" owns the copyright to the
  7. Commodore name and the famous chicken-
  8. lips icon. I also heard -- and perhaps
  9. it is just a rumor and/or urban myth
  10. -- that said company has plans to
  11. charge anyone who uses the icon.
  12.  
  13.     Oh -- good! Like a dog with a
  14. bone, these mighty companies don't
  15. [want] to actually [use] the logo;
  16. they just don't want anyone else using
  17. the logo. That's not quite right. They
  18. WANT anyone else to use the label and
  19. pay them for the priviledge! And we
  20. are brainwashed to believe that this
  21. is all right, meet and proper.

  23.     What is quite far from right,
  24. meet, and proper is the language of
  25. our copyright law, which has no
  26. provisions for abandoned or orphaned
  27. intellectual properties. It is not
  28. written to protect the creative
  29. person, but rather to create a
  30. protected corporate nobility that owns
  31. everything.

  33.     Consider how the corporate music
  34. industry (which has not published a
  35. decent song since Billy Joel's "For
  36. the Longest Time") pounced on Napster
  37. with both feet. They were losing money
  38. they hadn't earned. Boo-hoo. I will
  39. feel sorry for them when [I] have a
  40. Lexus! Now, after a decade of no
  41. corporate support for the C= machines
  42. and software, someone thinks they can
  43. pop up and say, "Gimmee!"

  45.     Well -- I won't. My pockets are so
  46. shallow, they are dry. The lawyer
  47. won't squeeze enough money out of me
  48. to pay for the stamp on the first
  49. letter! They can bankrupt me, but they
  50. cannot have one stolen penny from me.
  51. EVEN IF I am GUILTY of Breaking the
  52. Law. For the Law is corrupt, null, and
  53. void.
