  6.     The trial was a sham!  It was a
  7. mockery and a travesty and a farce,
  8. too. First they framed you, then they
  9. sentenced you to 999 years. It looked
  10. like you, Owen the Pugnacious, would
  11. spend the rest of your days in prison.
  12. Boy, those anti-littering laws are
  13. tough!
  14.  
  15.     But there's no prison that can
  16. keep the Pug for long. You escaped on
  17. the warden's helicopter and parachuted
  18. into the quaint little burg of Pfister
  19. City. If you can only find a cargo
  20. plane!
  21.  
  22.     But first you must get past guards
  23. and an indestructible tank. The hangar
  24. complex has a special lock on it that
  25. requires five units of houdinic energy
  26. to open. You must find five units and
  27. collect them, then you can enter the
  28. hangar.
  29.  
  30.     You move with a joystick in Port
  31. #2, and can shoot the guards by
  32. pressing the firebutton. Don't shoot
  33. them until they are right on you,
  34. since they re-materialize soon after
  35. they're shot. If they touch you,
  36. you're dead. Don't bother shooting
  37. the tank -- just run from it.

  39.     In the hangar you find that you
  40. can move faster, but you no longer
  41. have a gun. Guns don't work in the
  42. hangar complex. The only thing that
  43. works is the airplane, and you have to
  44. find it without getting nabbed by the
  45. guards.
  46.  
  47.     Since you're an expert pilot, you
  48. won't have any trouble getting into
  49. the air, but apparently the warden has
  50. called out the Air Force. Dodge the
  51. planes, fire and missiles. It would be
  52. a shame to die after all the effort
  53. you've put into escaping. You have
  54. shields on your plane but once those
  55. shields have been blown away, you're
  56. one hit away from oblivion.

  63.     Get Power Cell - 100
  64.     Open Door - 1000

  66.     Find Plane - 2500

  69.     Shoot Enemy's Shot - 50
  70.     Shoot Missile - 75
  71.     Shoot Enemy - 150
  72.     Complete Your Escape - 2000
  73.     Shield Bonus - 200 per unit left
  74.     Time Bonus - 5 per time unit left

  77.     The victory scene at the end of
  78. your successful escape uses 288 sprite
  79. definitions. Don't miss it!

  81.     OWEN'S ESCAPE will keep you and
  82. your joystick occupied for more time
  83. than you'll care to admit. The five
  84. all-time top scores are kept in a file
  85. on the disk; the five high scores for
  86. the day are kept in memory.

  88.     If you would like to zero out the
  89. high scores file, there's a program on
  90. the disk called "set-up highs". Just
  91. LOAD and RUN this program with the
  92. disk in the drive and the scores will
  93. be cleared.

  95.     Well, Owen the Pugnacious, fate
  96. has given you another chance to enjoy
  97. the fruits of freedom. All you have to
  98. do is destroy a few zillion dollars
  99. worth of robots and planes. The
  100. taxpayers may not like it, but that's
  101. what they get for convicting an
  102. innocent man. You ARE innocent, aren't
  103. you, Owen? Aren't you???
