GRAPHICS CONTEST
1987 WINNERS
from Commodore Magazine
Text by Fender Tucker
[DAVE'S PRECEPTION:] Stephen Judd was
quoted by the New York Times: "You
wouldn't say Mozart or Rembrandt were
great artists [for their time]!" So
why do we constantly hear that art on
the C-64 is somehow "not-art" because
the system is dubbed "obsolete." That
would be like throwing out every oil
painting when color photography became
available.
What strikes me about the winners of
this 1987 contest is the diversity of
styles. This medium called the VIC II
is quite maliable.
In this month's slide show we
proudly present sixteen of the winners
of Commodore Magazine's 1987 graphics
contest. Computer artists from all
over the globe sent in their works for
judging by the magazine's highly-
trained art critics, many of whom are
graduates of the Sheboygan
Conservatory of Art.
The slide show will show each
picture and text for about fifteen
seconds before loading the next
picture. Pressing F1 will change the
border color and give you another
fifteen seconds. Pressing any other
key will load the next picture. As
always, pressing Q will give you the
option of quitting.
In keeping with the highfalutin'
nature of these pictures, we have
included a bit of verse that may
elevate your spirit, if not your brow.
"...you will enjoy the show."
