  5.   This month, Joe Garrett has

  7. transcribed the "Arkansas Traveler"

  9. and "Dixie" to give LOADSTAR's music a
  10.  
  11. distinctly antebellum flavor.

  14.   There is more here than meets the

  16. eye-- or ear.  Joe transcribed this
  17.  
  18. month's music with a music editor of
  19.  
  20. his own design.  The music editor uses
  21.  
  22. a light pen to pick up and position
  23.  
  24. musical notes on a measure displayed
  25.  
  26. on the screen, a feature that really
  27.  
  28. facilitates the transfer of sheet
  29.  
  30. music to the computer.

  32.  
  33.   Joe's music editor can play
  34.  
  35. different instruments for all three
  36.  
  37. voices and has room for over 3700
  38.  
  39. notes.  And because his music player
  40.  
  41. does not take memory away from BASIC
  42.  
  43. and is interrupt driven, it can be
  44.  
  45. used to add music to any BASIC
  46.  
  47. program without affecting the way the
  48.  
  49. program performs.

  52.   At present Joe's music system is

  54. still being developed.  Our plans are
  55.  
  56. to market the system with a light pen
  57.  
  58. included.  We will keep you informed

  60. on the progress of the project.

  63.   The Commodore 64 and 128 are far

  65. superior to any machine in their

  67. class when it comes to sound

  69. generation.  Joe's music system

  71. promises to open up the auditory side

  73. of computing-- even for those of us

  75. who have to carry our tunes in a
  76.  
  77. bucket.
