PAY CHECK
by
D. W. Sampson
COMMODORE MICROCOMPUTERS MAGAZINE
May/June, 1986
p.60
In a world where personal identity
is a fragile and transitory phenomena,
pay stubs are absolutely vital. You
see, the beauty of pay stubs is that
they are small and easily lost. After
every pay period, we go around leaving
little notes in the form of lost pay
stubs-- notes, that when found months
and years later, prove to ourselves
that we really exist.
Feel more than your share of
existential despair? All you have to
do is to search the corners of your
wallet, the dark recesses of your
purse, or under your Billy Joel record
collection. Chances are that you
will find a pay stub from September,
1978. That should make you feel much
better-- it proves at least that you
existed that month. Why else should
they pay you?
I earn; therefore, I am.
While pay stubs may be invaluable
in the metaphysical scheme of things,
we must face facts. They are not too
practical.
Fortunately, PAY CHECK allows you
to keep up with your personal payroll
information by printing out your
payroll information on a sheet
suitable for filing or putting into a
three-ring binder.
To use this program, you must first
have your printer up and ready to
print. Then you are prompted to
press a key to begin entry of your
information.
You will then be prompted to enter
information like BEGINNING PAY PERIOD.
As soon as you press RETURN to enter
this information, it is sent to the
printer. After you have completed
the program, you may run it again by
typing RUN and pressing RETURN.
NOTE: PAY CHECK designed to be used
with the 1526 or MPS-802 printer, and
thus might not work properly with a
different printer without alteration.
Consult your printer manual.
