  13. BEACH HEAD, BEACH HEAD II, MACH5,
  14.  
  15. etc., comes MACH128.  It is similar to
  16.  
  17. MACH5, but with certain refinements.
  18.  
  19. Designed to work with the C-128,
  20.  
  21. MACH128 is a "CARTRIDGE AND DISK
  22.  
  23. COMMODORE ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM" (that's
  24.  
  25. from the box) and is well worth the
  26.  
  27. investment ($34.95 + shipping) for
  28.  
  29. any new C-128 owner.
  30.  
  31.    It contains a reset button
  32.  
  33. (imagine, TWO reset buttons) and a
  34.  
  35. mode switch (they forgot to label it)
  36.  
  37. for fast transfer between 64/128
  38.  
  39. modes.  All the BASIC 7.0 commands
  40.  
  41. stay intact, plus you have the added
  42.  
  43. commands available with a couple key-
  44.  
  45. strokes.  Type \filename and it loads
  46.  
  47. and runs a basic program.  The
  48.  
  49. directory lists with the "$" and is
  50.  
  51. listed with a colon just before the
  52.  
  53. file type, which enables you to run
  54.  
  55. your cursor up to the filename, type
  56.  
  57. in the command (over the block size),
  58.  
  59. run it over to the ending quote and
  60.  
  61. press RETURN.  This is a real
  62.  
  63. lifesaver when you forget those long
  64.  
  65. filenames.
  66.  
  67.    Another new (read, GREAT) feature
  68.  
  69. is a 10 second disk formatter in 64
  70.  
  71. mode to format a disk in 1541 style
  72.  
  73. (one side at a time).  The syntax is
  74.  
  75. "@F:filename,id" and it works!!!!
  76.  
  77. Also, you have a RESTORE basic
  78.  
  79. program capability, SCREEN DUMP to
  80.  
  81. printer, hex, decimal, binary con-
  82.  
  83. verter and printer commands at the
  84.  
  85. touch of a key.
  86.  
  87.    The above features are just some
  88.  
  89. of the things that will make working
  90.  
  91. with your C-128 a bit easier, and
  92.  
  93. I didn't even mention that in 128
  94.  
  95. mode with a 1571 programs will load
  96.  
  97. at "burst" speed.  I haven't clocked
  98.  
  99. it, but one thing I did observe is
  100.  
  101. that a "LUMBERING HIPPO" it most
  102.  
  103. definitely is NOT.  ACCESS calls it,
  104.  
  105. "WARP DRIVE" (ala Captain Kirk) and
  106.  
  107. it seems to fit.  You can even turn
  108.  
  109. it on and off.
  110.  
  111.    All this and more, plus a disk
  112.  
  113. organizer program, make this one
  114.  
  115. great package for anyone serious
  116.  
  117. about their C-128 and will pay for
  118.  
  119. itself immediately. Another well
  120.  
  121. thought out product by a first-class
  122.  
  123. company.
