DISK TO TAPE

Automatic Disk Back-Up and Retrieve

If you've ever had a disk 'crash'
on you, then you know how important
it is to keep a back-up. Tapes are
usually more reliable than disks when
it comes to long term data storage.
Rarely though, do people make tape
back-ups of their programs. They feel
that it takes too much time or it's
just not that important. Well, now
you have a way to save an entire
diskette to tape.
Before you run this program, be
sure to make a list of what programs
you want to archive for safe keeping.
Next, RUN the program. When the
program asks, INPUT the names of the
programs you want to back-up.
Be sure to spell everything correctly.
When you have entered all of the names
that you want to back-up, enter the
word END. The program will end and
tell you to save the program under the
name of 'DISK'. Be sure you save the
program onto the disk you are
backing-up.
Now, turn your computer off then
back on. LOAD the program called
'DISK' that you just saved. Put a
tape into your datasette and RUN the
program. You will be told to PRESS
RECORD AND PLAY. When you do this,
the program is off and running. You
can then go get a cup of coffee.
When the tape comes to its end, the
computer will stop and tell you again
to PRESS RECORD AND PLAY. This is
when you are to put in another tape
into your datasette and then press
record and play. The program will
then continue with its work.
*** NOTE ***
Because of the nature of this pro-
gram, it does NOT return to LOADSTAR.
When you attempt to RUN this program
from LOADSTAR, you will be given a
choice of whether you REALLY want to
RUN the program or not. If not, you
can then return to LOADSTAR.
